The CatchLocator is a new system which makes it possible to track fresh fish throughout the entire chain via internet. Information about catch location, vessel, sorting and fishing method is can be consulted at any time via a barcode on the label on the fish boxes.

The GPS coordinates coupled to the catch location ensure the fish’ traceability throughout the whole chain via internet. With every pass, the system records the GPS coordinates of the exact catch location. The label on the fish boxes has a barcode. By entering in the barcode at, you can see where, by which ship and at which time the fish were caught and also which fishing method was used. Retailers will have special terminals with barcode scanners which will display the information immediately. The information can also be read on a cellular phone.
