This foundation, established by the fishing industry, is also referred to as the SFAV in this field. The SFAV receives a subscription fee from its members, which is used to fund the expenses of  gathering and disposingof waste. The Dutch fishing industry is proud of this initiative, which was implemented in 1994, and involves a close collaboration with the Ministry of Transport, Public Works and Water Management.

Consequently, throughout the Netherlands they gather:

• Bilge water

• Used oil and oil filters

• Grease

• Cleaning rags

• Paint waste

• Lamps
